{"id":462,"date":"2013-07-02T04:11:53","date_gmt":"2013-07-02T04:11:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.firstofallpray.com\/?p=462"},"modified":"2013-08-18T20:53:36","modified_gmt":"2013-08-18T20:53:36","slug":"folly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.firstofallpray.com\/?p=462","title":{"rendered":"Folly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201c<i>But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all<\/i><i>\u2026\u201d<\/i> 2 Timothy 3:9<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<i>But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.<\/i>\u201d 2 Timothy 3:13<\/p>\n<p>The above verses couldn\u2019t seem any more contradictory! And yet they both appear in 2 Timothy 3 in the Apostle Paul\u2019s description of the last days. Both verses are about the same type of people, evil men and impostors, men who oppose the truth, have depraved minds, and who are rejected in regard to the faith (see 2 Timothy 3:8).<\/p>\n<p>Verse 9 tells us that these truth-haters will make no further progress. Verse 13 says that they will proceed from bad to worse.<\/p>\n<p>Could both verses be true <i>and<\/i> about the same godless folks?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s muddy the waters a bit more before we clear them up. Did you know that the word for \u201cprogress\u201d in verse 9 and the word for \u201cproceed\u201d in verse 13 are one and the same word?<\/p>\n<p>Both words are <em>prokopt\u014d <\/em>in Greek. It means to promote, to further, to advance, to go forward, and to make progress (see <em>&lt;<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G4298&amp;t=KJV%3e).%20\">www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G4298&amp;t=KJV&gt;). <\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to the Word, evil men and impostors will <em>prokopt\u014d<\/em> (proceed and advance) from bad to worse. And, also according to the Bible, these evil men will not make further<em> prokopt\u014d <\/em>(progress or advancement)!<\/p>\n<p>If the evil operatives of the last days:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>will make no further progress, while at the same time they<\/li>\n<li>are proceeding from bad to worse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>then something very interesting is being revealed here.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that the Holy Spirit is letting the generation alive in the last days in on important truth.<\/p>\n<p>1.)\u00a0 We can put our faith in what God has said about\u00a0those who oppose the truth, have depraved minds, and who are rejected in regard to the faith. And that is this: They will make no further progress. Why not? For their folly will be obvious to all.<\/p>\n<p>How will their progress be halted? By having their folly openly displayed before all\u2014the rest of the population.<\/p>\n<p>How will\u00a0it be exposed and\u00a0made obvious\u00a0before the eyes of the full population? That\u2019s where we believers\u00a0come in: We are to pray for truth to prevail and evil to be exposed in God\u2019s way and God\u2019s time.<\/p>\n<p>But then, you may ask, if evil men are supposed to make no further progress, why are things clearly getting worse? My response? This show\u2019s not over! God\u2019s not done. Don\u2019t tell me<i> you\u2019re<\/i> done!<\/p>\n<p>2.)\u00a0 We also can bet our bottom dollar on the fact that evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse. God said they would.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the difference. These evil men and women\u00a0will make no further progress in their agendas, in great part, <em>because<\/em> of their folly. Folly\u00a0has\u00a0neither the ability nor power to\u00a0cause the one who embraces it to flourish forever. Many godly souls see right through\u00a0the\u00a0impostors\u00a0and their lies, and many more will start to wake up to the folly of what is being\u00a0foisted upon them. Our part, as believers in all of this, is to pray for truth to prevail, for folly to be openly and explicitly exposed for what it is, and to cry out to God to\u00a0intervene on behalf of our nation.<\/p>\n<p>However, the poor souls clinging to their agendas of folly will themselves proceed from bad to worse as they deceive and become even more deceived themselves.
